We started in Stewart and visited their museum. Very, very informative. The explorers and miners of yesterday certainly lived a tough life.
Next, we viewed a few old sites around Stewart, some of them were built around 1898. Lee had seen a large wooden building with three stories when we first came into Stewart and now discovered it was the Empress Hotel, built in 1905 and having 50 rooms, all with running water and heat, a pool hall, dining room and dance hall. Quite the building for its day.
The museum was filled with items and displays worth snapping photos. Camera was smokin'. The blog photos will attest to that.
The mainstay of the area was mining - which began over 100 years ago and is still active.
