Walking the rails.

Blue Cedars Campground, Prince George BC (1 star)

We visited the Central BC Railway and Forestry Museum today. They have a large collection of rolling stock including a rare electric locomotive. We spent quite a bit of time in the Penny train station which was moved here from the town of Penny back in the 1980's.

They also have a passenger car similar to the one the Zwaals came out west in.

Have I ever noted I am a lover of trains! Especially the ones from the days of the "Puffer Bellies". Well, in my glory going through the engine and compartments and just taking in all the real, but now retired, rail cars at the museum. There is something majestic about those old steam locomotives. As a wee one, I had a model train set - I'm sure dad bought it so he could work on it LOL. We lived on the eastern outskirts of Regina on Broder Street at the time, and the railway out of the Imperial Oil Refinery were right across the street from our house. Those magestic engines trundled by daily I'm sure. I have a visual memory of the steam triailing above and behind the engine as it went past. I don't recall and loud or disturbing noises living that close to the rails.
