We wanted to see Venice. To do so meant a train trip east from Milan.

We saw Venice as planned, but saw so many other things. The huge size of the Milan train station was amazing. And deciding to take the train as far as possible east to the Iron Curtain (modern day Slovenian border) was also interesting. We ordered Italian espresso at 6:00 am in Monfalcone and never did get to the border.

Venice was amazing as it should be. English was not as common on the street as it is now. We went to a restaurant in Venice that had a sign out front which read 'We speak English'. Lez ordered lemonade and got ham and eggs. Too funny.
