The arrival at the Hoek van Holland     [Jun 20, 1972 - Jul 31, 1972]

Back Home

We made our way from Heathrow airport by train to Harwich on the North Sea shore.

We then boarded a ferry for an overnight sailing to the Hoek van Holland. We had a sleeping berth arranged, but not much sleeping got done. We were too excited to get there.

As a clarification, some people interpret the Hoek van Holland to be the Hook of Holland in English. That is incorrect. When properly translated, it means the Corner of Holland. It is in fact the south west corner of the province of South Holland, which is one of the eleven province of the country of The Netherlands.
