Hey, what's that dash light mean.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Lee notes that it started innocently enough. Aaron sent an image of his dash noting that it is +6c in Edmonton this morning. Well, it went downhill from there. Lez questioned the glowing "P" on his dash. And then it went downhill from there. Does it show the car is in Park or is the park brake on. And Lez shows that the P is bigger in her truck. And then it went downhill from there. So, we now know that a VW automatically puts the emergency brakes on when you open the door so stupid people won't have their vehicle roll away on them. Oh, boy!

We had a great time at grandma's in the evening. We spent several hours reminiscing about family and old times in Saskatchewan.

Well, in all fairness, Aaron's line of car dash info NE 8:05 P was mis-interpreted by me.

My first thought seeing a P that is not glowing and is positioned after the 8:05 was an indicator for the time after 12 noon. I commented that I thought the service kid should fix the P (as it was actually in the morning) He informs me that the line of info says the vehicle is facing NorthEast at 8:05 with the car in Park. Well I assume (hope!) he is in Park because he has used his cell phone to take the photo. He points out that little P indicates the transmission is in Park.

I am accustomed to a P for Park that is the far left of the string of information that notes what gear the transmission is in (P-R-N-D-L). I unwittingly have confused the car in Park indicator with a Park Brake indicator. So I barge on explaining that my Park indicator catches one's attention, one that stands out from the rest of the miriad of characters and icons in .0005 font with two other character-filled gauges on either side. I send him a picture of my truck's lit up "P" noting THIS is a Park indicator.

Man of a few words, kindly informs his mom "That's a Park Brake". Sigh.
