Jeff Wilson is a Scottish-born Vancouver artist who has painted a collection of south west Saskatchewan prairie scenes. Lee and Lez are impressed. Not many people, not even prairie residents are aware of the beauty in the land south of Cypress Hills and up against the Alberta and Montana borders. To us, this is one of the most amazing places we have ever been and his paintings capture it beautifully.
He even painted a "Martha", a 1950-era GMC pickup like the one Alf Poulter had on his farm north of Regina.
We headed out this morning to catch an art presentation from Jeff Wilson. He was at the Old School House Arts Center in Qualicum Beach.
His paintings brought back a lot of memories of rural Saskatchewan prairie life and of our Roads Less Gravelled trip through some of the southern Saskatchewan prairies he depicts in his work.
I'm tempted to pull out some of our photos from back in the day and see if I can create more small quilt scenes of our days gone by. Yes, I brought a healthy stash of fabric with us. LOL - and if I need more I know where all the quilt shops are.
