Lezley's father, Milow Worel, started going up to northern Saskatchewan in the early 1960's. He was inspired by Bob Kelly, who Milow had worked with at Imperial Oil and who now lived on an acreage north of Prince Albert.

Bob owned a float plane and canoe'd around the Churchill River area of northern Saskatchewan. In 1964, Milow flew to Yellowknife and back in Bob's plane. They camped along several lakes and after returning to La Ronge, they did some canoeing.

Milow was hooked. Over the next four decades, Milow made over 60 canoe trips in northern Saskatchewan.

He canoe'd until almost the end of his life.

These photos, scanned from his slides, are presented in the sequence he would have used during numerous presentations of his trips to northern Saskatchewan that he delivered in and around Regina.

There were times when the canoeists would report the river, lake and rapids conditions to the Saskatchewan Department of Mineral Resources because the trip had gone through such remote areas that even the department had no idea of current conditions.

Milow was a member of the Historic Trails Canoe Club. They had about a dozen members and many would go on canoe trips together.

The club members were identified by the Historic Trails Canoe Club plaques on their wood and canvas canoes.

Several club members, including Milow, had their ashes spread into Otter Rapids from the Otter Bridge.
