Chuck to the rescue.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
We had a nice lunch with Pat and Marj in Lantzville after picking up fabric for new curtains in the Schooner. We were barely home when Lez got a call from Ralph. The RCMP had run his plates and discovered that his driver's license was no longer valid. Ralph had taken the test drive in December to replace his license with one including his new condition. But apparently in BC, it takes many months to enter a small amount of data from a piece of paper into a computer. They are so 20th century around here. Anyways, we drove over to where they had stopped him and drove him and his truck home. All's well that ends well.
Lez got a good deal: We found the fabric for our new curtains, and it is extra wide so I was able to back off the yardage. Still, thankfully, it was on sale. Now I have a real chore ahead of me. So, knuckling down if possible in the next few days to finish a couple of quilts before starting into the curtains. BUT WAIT! Bro has offered a distraction for Friday! Out to his boat for the day - we are not going to pass up on that. The curtain material won't go bad.
We had a great "Catch up" pub lunch with Marj and Pat, friends from Edmonton who have moved out to the island a few years back. Marj and I and a few others used to gather at her place for Tuesday quilting. We will always be great friends with the quilting bond. Lee and Pat had no problems sharing their conversation - both love hockey and are up on the junior side of the game too. Speaking of hockey - the Oceanside Generals are 1 -0 in the first round of their playoff. Comox is a tough team - very physical. There will be a lot of heat pads or icing packs tonight.
At the pub, I found a dime on the floor - with the Bluenose face up. It was, to me, a good omen. And sure enough, when we were with Ralph later in the day - he invited us out to his boat before he heads to Mexico this month!
