A visit from the Brins.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
Great breakfast and visit with them. Topics were all over the map (literally) and we landed on their and our visits to France, and particularly Paris. Norm mentioned a cafe on Boulevard St. Germain they really liked and we mentioned a wine store we had bought several bottles of wine from in the 90's. Well, let's see where these places are; we fired up Google Maps Street View. What are the chances The cafe and wine shop are separated by only one small store.
Breaky at Ricki's: Clear skies and great sunshine greeted us to the day and the RV was comfortably warm - so much so, we actually had windows open ajar until later in the afternoon.
We met up with Pat and Norm for brunch and caught up on life and our families. It has been quite awhile since we have connected. They then came to see The Schooner and how we have adjusted to a nomad life in comfort. Great conversation comparing RV camping notes! Sharing various travel adventures too. We found out that over the years we even shopped in the same tiny wine shop in Parisl! So glad we had the day with them. They will be moving back to Edmonton this spring - their house sold quickly in Ladysmith.
In spite of the sun, there was a very cold breeze and we weren't able to comfortably sit outside.
Lee and I went for a seawall walk tonight, as we often do, and the skies were still quite clear - and the stars so very bright. Snuggled in for the evening, fireplace keeping us warm, and another shmaltzy movie planned.
