The power of water.
Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)
We walked a circuit around Surfside after breakfast, starting with the sea wall and going around to the Englishman River estuary. Lee was amazed at the size of tree, root ball and all, that had apparently been torn out of the Englisman River bank and pulled out to the Salish Sea, coming to rest on a small tidal bank.
While walking, we met a nice couple from St. Albert who are staying in Surfside for the first time, having spent 18 winters in Arizona. Given the state of things in the USA, they are not going back.
Mid afternoon it was hockey time, this time the live streaming of the Oil Kings. They beat Calgary, thus making it five wins in a row. That certainly raised the enjoyment of the subsequent cheese fondue, although Lee always has a great time dining with his best friend.
The day dawned with an orange glow in the east which was tempting to catch with the camera, but a warm and comfy bed was just too much to resist. I did make up for that sleep in and did capture the stunning sunset later in the day, adding more photos and photo edit work to the plate of tasks for today. Rough life, hey.
Lez notes - All in all, it was a lazy day in the RV: When the sun came out (after the cloudy morning), we went for a long Sea Wall walk around the resort - chatting with a few folk along the way. The sun does draw people out. Got lots of pictures of the ocean which is aways different every time we wander along the Sea Wall. New logs, trees and vistas every time. We viewed Shelley park from the resort. Even though the tide was low, it was too high to cross at the far end of the resort. Back home, settled in for a Cheese Fondue - something we have not had for quite some time. It always takes us a long time to eat as conversation is so much a part of the simple meal.
