A weird Monday.
Port Ordze, Sherwood Park, AB (2 stars)
Lee stayed home this morning. It is election day and all his work is done until after the election. It was nice to enjoy some daytime sunshine at Port Ordze. Hobbes wandered around and Lee did some chores.
Lez came home at supper time, we enjoyed some pulled pork courtesy of Chris, and then it was off to work for the impending rush as polls closed and supervisors brought in their material.
Lee has done this twice now (as Materials Co-ordinator) and it is both tiring and exciting. A very good crew (including Alec) brought it all to closure about 1 am. A quick pass through Timmies and we were off to home and bed.
Lez is exhausted: At the office at the phones before 9am; got home after 1:30am. Yes, a.m. on the 21st. I took over 50 phone calls to assist voters as to where they will vote on this day, and probably missed another 50 as I left the desk for other tasks. A few people wandered into the Returning Office thinking they could vote in our office. All the requests for special ballots ie: out of town on polling day, are no longer possible, no more mailing out or picking up special ballots. The polling division you live in is where you must vote (very few exceptions can be applied). It was a very busy, interesting, thick-skinned when someone was angry they couldn't get to their polling place kind of day. A few phone hangups and words less pleasant were directed via me to the government. Buck stops here. As the messenger, I had to let the comments go in one ear and out the other. LOL - if you know me, you know how hard that is to do.
Chris brought over fixens for dinner - pulled pork! Thanks so much Chris!
Voting done, political scene barely changed. Interesting.
