Next up, we walked through the Leduc #1 historical site south of Devon. There are many examples of historical oil industry equipment, including the Imperial Oil derrick that started it all on February 26, 1947. There was also another piece of equipment of interest to Lee - an Alberta Trailer Sales trailer, later to become ATCO.
The walk through the outdoor displays of the oil derricks from the start of the Oil industry in Edmonton was interesting. Now, just reading the WIKI version of how it all came about - we MUST go back again when the museum is open (LOL closed on Mondays) and go through the indoor museum and displays. After reading the snippets of information, I find the whole discovery information very interesting - and now feel a closer appreciation for the company that employed my father througout his career.
