From boreal to grain.
Map - Slave Lake to WestlockPort Glebe, Westlock, AB (2 stars)
The drive from the Slave Lake/Athabasca highway to Westlock via highway 44 is only about an hour but you move from boreal forest to fields of grain in that short time. As we arrived at the Glebe's acreage, Lee felt good being on the prairies again.
We had a great evening with Lori and Vernon, talking about everything under the sun.
Lez cooks up a storm: We settled in at Port Glebe after a quiet trip across the north country, out into more cultivated flatter land again - not southern Sask flat, but flatter. Gas prices are almost acceptable again now that we are back in Edmonton area.
We have docked at the acreage of our gracious hosts, about an hour north of Edmonton. I brought out the Instant Pot and prepared ribs and rice for dinner and we sat around their kitchen table remembering last year at this time. We had visited them the day before we left on this real journey in the Schooner.
Our first anniversary today was toasted in fine fashion with our hosts and with a Slave Lake locally brewed beer!
