Walking Bob's trails.
Map - To Christopher Lake and backPort Kelly (2 stars)
Lee and Lez joined Bob Kelly to walk some of his trails he and Rob Kelly have made on the two quarters of land they live on. Bob can walk over eleven kilometers through forest and fields. We walked about three kilometers on a very hot day.
Bob Kelly inherited a cabin on Christopher Lake from his parents, who had built the first one in 1952. Bob took that down in 2004 and built a new one, which we had a chance to visit today. Bob did nice work; he did almost all of the construction himself.
In the evening, Rob and Samantha joined Bob, Leona, Lee and Lez for popcorn and coffee. As always, much conversation about the north country, of canoeing and of Dad Worel.
Lez is thankful for the great Kelly hospitality. What a wonderful visit we had with them. The forest walk we took was just a wee portion of the trails we could have done. A cooler, less humid day and forethought for bug spray would have kept us out longer - and we would have snapped twice as many photos for sure! Not captured on film were several tiny butterflies, a wood frog (just a little thing), more flowers, more meadow photos. We scared up two Sandhill Crane - cameras not ready - didn't expect them!
Our third and final evening with the Kellys and so many more life adventures shared. Thank you Bob for the tour of the Christopher Lake cabin and area - wish we lived closer! I think the Zwaal family would enjoy a week out there!
