Grumpy's got grumpy.
Map - To Yorkton, Melville and backKarau Acreage (2 stars)
We left early (for us) for a tour of the Yorkton and Melville area. We decided to have lunch in Yorkton and Lez searched the net for a suitable place. Well, well, well. They are either closed or it is take out only or in the case of Grumpy's they closed early due to lack of staff. After some back and forth on Broadway, we found a very nice Asian restaurant.
On to Melville then, and that is definitely a rail town. A nice steam locomotive in their park and a restoration going on in the original Grand Trunk Pacific railway station downtown.
When we got back to the Schooner, we headed over to our host's house to do a planned phone call with Joyce's parents. Lee spent an enjoyable time talking about their common place of birth (Rotterdam). As has been the case every evening, we finished with hours of conversation about everything under the sun with our hosts.
Lez stretches: We caught a nap after the travelling. The heat, I think, is making us sleepy. A couple more days or mid 30's yet to come. We did a fair bit of driving today . Ok - Lee did a fair bit of driving today, but we did make a few stops for photos - only 36 pics! The restaurant in Yorkton was very good - but we didn't actually eat until almost 2 - so were very hungry. Then, we weren't hungry for dinner - so it ended up being another 2 meal day. We wandered over to our hosts after ensuring Hobbes was "fed and watered" and had his brushing.
After our chat with Joyce's mom (in Dutch!) we spent the next few hours talking some more with our hosts. Plans are made - salmon dinner tomorrow - chef Dan's decision on how to prep dinner, and we will drop the salmon off with them before we do a small wander around more of the area. Sunday's brunch will be Lez's pannekoek! (with "spek" - bacon!). We'll also connect at dinner with the kids in Edmonton via Webex and catch up on all our goings on over the past two weeks. Tonight we spent time updating the photos for the website.
