Delicious snakes and cobwebs.
Map - Alsask to KindersleyKindersley Regional Park (2 stars)
Another hot day, so we decided to have Hobbes in the back seat of Chuck rather than the Schooner. Got a few meows for a while but he settled down.
Before we left Alsask, we took a quick tour throught the old Cold War-era base and radar station near town. Lee finds it amazing how much effort was expended to watch the Russians during that time.
We drove as far as Kindersley (a whopping 45 minutes) and then settled into their regional campground. It's a nice, treed campground and we snagged a nice, grassy site with lots of shade.
Supper consisted of steaks and corn on the cob, hence the phrase for the day. We followed with a walk along a lake the town has created, rimmed with lots of trees and many, many birds. The cameras were smoking.
Lez sighs contentment: Maybe it's because we are back on the Prairies, or that life is on an even keel. Today we kept Hobbes with us in Chuck and air conditioning. He's not impressed with truck travel, but certainly was comfortable.
We are camping at the Kindersley Regional Park - which is on the edge of Kindersley! LOL. We have power and water, so are fixed up pretty well. Being on the flatlands (ok there are some rolling views) WIFI/Cell service is not an issue. Kindersley is a bustling community with all the services a household would need.
I spent the afternoon handstitching the binding of a QOVC quilt I made at Surfside. I will leave it with the rep in Regina. A very leisurely few hours under the awning with a breeze to keep comfy, a sparkle water drink at hand and our CD's playing on the outside speaker.
Lee BBQ'd steak and I "nuked" the corn on the cob. Add the Merlot and dinner was just right. We wandered to view the "lake" just adjacent to the campground and have settled in for an evening of photo editing and blog updates. My job here is done. LOL.
