Map - Whitecourt to Peace RiverRendez-vous RV Park, Peace River, AB (2 stars)
Lee mentioned to Lez as we drove north of Whitecourt that we had seen the last of the prairies until whenever we get back in these parts. Wrong. Not long after Valleyview the land turned to farming and ranching country. The harvest is well underway.
We had a great time with Chuck and Carole at their beautiful home. They have a great backyard with a big fireplace that Chuck built.
From Rendez-vous RV Park to a rendez-vous wth Carole and Chuck Gold in Peace River, AB.
Carole is a long-standing quilter friend - and is a long arm quilter - using one of those huge quilting machines that really needs the large room it is set up in. The weather was perfect to sit outside by their outdoor fireplace and our conversations touched every topic possible - not even just quilting! Time flew and it was VERY dark when we headed back to the RV park. Good ol' Chuck the truck with the aid of Sally the nav system got us home safe and sound under the light of an incredible full Harvest Moon.
A bit of trivia, the town was originally named Peace River Crossing and is also known as Riviere-la-Paix in French. It is along the banks of the Peace River where it joins up with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek.
