Ja toch, van Gogh in the convention centre.
On Kathy Gutheil's advice, we took in the Vincent van Gogh exhibition at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. What an amazing presentation of his too short life and the amazing collection of his paintings. A visually moving presentation made possible entirely by modern computer technology.
Yes, just a little art history of one of the most famous artists - Vincent Van Gogh. An understatement to be sure.
To add to an over used play on words - if you have an opportunity to see his exhibit, you must Gogh! The venue is not one of walking past walls of paintings but rather a video display on the white walls AND floor of a huge room. The videos show his art in HUGE format, fading in and out with artwork. The overpainting a reflection of his re-use of canvas. The display will show a sketch which will fade out and then the finished product fades over. He did paint over paintings and also often painted on the back of a painting. To this day, paintings under paintings are still being discovered. Gotta love technology.
The story of his work is written over some of his works as the wall displays change. It is quite an awe inspiring display.
Gotta love Gogh.
