U-Don't-Haul.

Lee notes there are many unusual things that go on here on Vancouver Island. As an aside, Parksville has been voted as one of the top ten places to live in Canada and is referred to as the Retirement Capital of Canada. No shit.

Anyways, back to business at hand. We are getting prepared to sell the Schooner and drive back to Edmonton. The question that arises is - how do we get all our stuff back to Edmonton. The great Canadian solution of course, U-Haul. Perfect.

Not so quick. Lee enquires at a local U-Haul dealer and is told that they do not rent U-Hauls to people who are taking them to Alberta. Huh Yup. Apparently there are so many islanders leaving to go to (or back to) Alberta that there is now a shortage of U-Haul equipment on the island. So what is left is being held for local use only.

Well, a little unhappy to get the U-Haul news, but given how expensive it is getting out here, we are not surprised. We will be very thoughtful in the arranging and packing of the interior and bed of the pickup. As we gather and fill boxes, we will be scouting around for the needed boxes. Even that could be a challenge.

I suppose another alternative is to drag the RV back and put it on the market in Alberta. Given weather across the mountains is so sketchy that time of year, we really want to travel without the Schooner.
