The Signed Log     [Jan 4, 2021]

This trip's travel Calendar Back Home

The Signed Log - so named because there appears to be a white board which may be a sign placed on it, or wind blown onto it and is now stuck. Some days it was more visible than others, depending on the height of the tide. There is a story behind that - hopefully one day we will meet someone who can share it. With the winds that can whip through here and also having seen kayakers on the waters anything is possible. We have seen the Signed Log from our first day here, viewing it apparently from the root end. This observation became evident during the high point of today's 17ft tide, when a long log portion became visible as it is attached to that root ball.

The tide moved the Signed Log to a whole new location. During its migration we were able to see the length of the log itself. It has now settled further west in the estuary in a more shallow section of water, and our view of the root ball is now showing a more complex root. The estuary changes constantly and is such a wonderful view out the back window.
