Elks bugling in the campground.
Map - Sherwood Park to JasperPort Ordze, Jasper AB (2 stars)
A nice, quiet ride from Sherwood Park to Jasper today. Not many vehicles on the road given that it is the Thanksgiving Sunday.
We set up in Whistlers Campground which ironically is open for its last day. This campground is one of only two facilities that Lez and I have given a full three stars, the other being in the inner harbour in Victoria BC.
Whistlers did not disappoint. The 360 degree mountain vistas were amazing as usual and a herd of elk came right by the Schooner, being herded by a bugling male with a huge rack.
Ahhh, Jasper Park, Canada. If you have never been - you are missing a wonderful, relaxing, peaceful time surrounded by nature and still having first rate camping facilities accessible. Laundry facilities, yes, public washrooms and private shower stalls too. This time around, we are pulling our house, and have all the amenities we need. But the camping park, now closed for the winter, is definitely a destination - camping or lodging - that Is highly recommended. I must look up in our travels, how many times we've been there. It makes a great winter destination too - not camping of course.
The bull Elk walked right past our Schooner's back window. His head and rack of horns was all I could see, as I viewed him walk by.
