Hills with stripes.
Zwaal Family, Regina SK (2 stars)
Down the Yellowhead and Highway 11 in Saskatchewan, headed to Regina, as we had driven so many times in the past.
A nice drive through freshly harvested grain fields surrounded by brilliant colours on the trees. And the second best gas mileage we have ever had with Chuck - 7.3 kilometers per liter (20.7 MPG).
We are headed to Regina. Overhead the skies are Alberta blue. Damn fine day!
Once again we are reminded how flat Saskatchewan is. How flat you ask. The storm on the horizon is a week away. LOL
Signs of fall are here. The harvested grain fields are fields of stripes. There are touches of yellow in the coulees and small stands of trees. Forest reds are rarely found, as the Maple rarely grows here. However, the Sumac is turning a rich red. The roadway ditches are filled with matured wild oats and fluffed Bullrushes.
The gas usage stats reflect the very flat route. Edmonton to Regina used a 3/4 tank of gas. Our odometer now shows 69,271 kilometers and we have 1,360 hours of usage on the truck.
