Back to a familiar place.
Tide's Inn Motel, Parksville BC (2 stars)
A short drive north of Nanaimo and I was back in a familiar place - Parksville.
I had no arrangements with friends today, so I toured around to see what had changed. Those were the usual things - my favourite cafe has a new name, a whole bunch of condo buildings have gone up all over the place, the used car store had a fire, and some businesses have just shut down. Normal, I guess, after two years.
After four winters in Parksville, it is still pretty familiar.
I spotted one of these old Volkswagens on the Coombs Highway today. It is a 1968 or 1969 Type 3 Fastback. I bought one new when I was 20 in 1970, in the colour VW called Clementine Orange. Lez and I called the car Clem.
