Fort Hill is a good climb with a wonderful view of the townsite and valley. There is a lot of fire-burn loss near here, but the vegetation is coming back.
Driving to Jasper today was breath-taking in more ways than one. Thirty minutes out the unbelieveable devastation from the forest fire of three years ago was brutally obvious. Miles and miles and miles of burned match stick-looking tree sticks covered the landscape.
I touched a burnt tree trunk and it felt spongy soft like cork and my fingers were soon covered in soot.
