A stop in Manyberries     [Sep 26, 2025]

Manyberries is a town a few kilometers off Highway 501. We decided to venture over simply because we were intrigued by the name. It turns out to have a re-habilitated train station and some train equipment.

It's not just a small station but rather a sizable one having a a large baggage annex and large waiting room. There appeared to be a living area on the second floor, likely for the local train master.

Sadly, the train tracks are gone. It is eerily quiet. As is the rest of the town. There is the cab of a pickup truck in a field next to the main street with advertising for the local grocery store, it also long gone. The hotel and bar are boarded up.

We are not sure which came first in this town, the local growing of berries or the street names. In any case, all the streets are named after various berries. A refreshing change from Main Street and Railway Avenue which are so commonly used in prairie towns.
