Lee convinced Lez to do a loop through Kananaskis country. Beautiful country, but Secondary Highway 742 is gravel. Oh well, after a while the traffic calmed down (at first it seemed as if all of Calgary was enjoying the Spray Lakes). Mountain goats were in abundance as we made our way to Peter Lougheed Park. Then, the pavement started and we headed back up Highway 40 in comfort.
All the while surrounded by magnificent peaks.
After a day of walking, today was a day of driving around in Chuck. Off to the mountains - the Rocky Mountains - we went. There are several national and provincial parks in the Canadian Rockies. Yes, the Rocky Mountains are not just in Canada, as the Canadian and USA border means nothing to mother nature. We stayed in Canada. Words really cannot share the beauty, the vastness, the thick forests and deep blue to rich blue-green lakes. According to published sources about 50 peaks in the Canadian Rockies surpass 11,000 feet (3,350 metres). Mount Robson (12,972 feet [3,954 metres]) in British Columbia is the highest. The word 'awesome' barely expresses the views. OH Canada!
