Piano keys on the highway.
Map - Iskut to Dease LakeDease Lake RV Park, Dease Lake BC (2 stars)
Lee notes we still have almost half a tank of fuel, so after leaving Red Goat we passed on the 215 cents per litre in Iskut and headed into Dease Lake. Nice try - 214.9 in Dease Lake for fuel. Oh well, fill up and be ready for the last day's haul into the Yukon on the day after next. No cell service in Dease Lake, which is surprising but not unheard of. We'll just pass the time in peaceful isolation.
Lez noticed a neat phenomenon on the drive today. We were driving in a north easterly direction for a while and it was still fairly early. The shadows of the trees on the right side, when evenly spaced, made the highway look like a piano keyboard.
No, we did not break out into song.
And then there were the bridges, especially over the Stikine River. Some new, some old, some small and some really big. It got us thinking about that phrase - we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Has anybody ever crossed a bridge earlier, you know, so as to get it done earlier and save a little time later. Does this sound like George Carlin. As he would have said - what a stupid, effin phrase that is.
Obviously, when travelling, and no radio station to listen to, the mind wanders as does the conversation. It's time to update the memory stick with music for the truck travel.
We pulled into the campground - and sort of wondered if it was even open. There was only one camper unit and with the low ground foliage around it, it didn't look lived in. It is very very quiet here. Things may be a little busier tomorrow as we understand there is a fishing derby tomorrow. Guess we'll stay another day and take in whatever festivities will be had. With no wifi, no cell, no internet we can't look up any promo. Although no signs, so maybe it's a low key get together of the folks who live around here. Perhaps I shall wander to the Office and chat!
An afternoon nap was appreciated today. LOL Daylight is pretty much 24 hours.
