Lee recalls seeing photos of the Salmon Glacier when he was young and had always wanted to see it for himself. Well, it took a few decades but today was the day. And it did not disappoint.
The road up from Stewart, through Hyder Alaska, is gravel and dusty. There is significant gold mining activity about halfway to the glacier. A worker told us the area is called the Golden Triangle.
Once up at the Salmon Glacier viewpoint we enjoyed not only the massive view of that glacier but also of a not so shy hoary marmot.
More exploring as Chuck takes us out to see the Salmon Glacier. We went though Hyder Alaska, yes, USA. Passports were needed to get back into Canada. Good thing we had them with us. Lee is very thorough before heading out on our excursions. The glacier is spectacular and 52 pictures will be a tough decision which to leave out of the blog.
We have managed to dodge or 'take care of' our mosquitoes - hungry little buggers.
We did have a visitor though. another "m" and he/she is not as cute as Mickey. Lee is going out for mouse traps as soon as the hardware store opens, not until Monday! Oh we miss Hobbes.
