But we're not a boat.
Map - Port Edward to KitimatRadley Park Campground, Kitimat BC (1 star)
We travelled back to Kitimat so Lez could take in a quilt show in their museum.
Lee notes that it was an uneventful drive until we got to the campground, which we had booked a week ago. We got the Schooner nicely parked and levelled and then proceeded to hook up the power, the only service they provide here.
OK, so Lee has hooked up the Schooner almost a 1,000 times but has never seen a power plug on the post like this one. Neither the 50 amp nor the 30 amp are recognizable. Lee feels kind of stupid standing there with the end of his power cord and no place to plug it in. He wanders over to the neighbour who has also been staring at his power pole.
Long story short, the new sites in this campground have been incorrectly wired with a marine 50 amp plug and a generator-style 30 amp plug, neither of which are carried by RV-ers. The neighbour says he was lucky because his generator came with a conversion plug so he could use the 30 amp. Our generators didn't, so we are faced with putting an extension cord through one of the windows and having only 15 amp power for three days. We are not happy.
Then Lee remembers that we bought a wiring harness that allows us to run both our generators in tandem and produce more power. He checks the harness and sure enough, it has one of those conversion plugs. The day is saved.
We may be in a small town area but a quilt show is on and I cannot miss a quilt show, rain or shine. Some super quilters are showing off their beautiful quilts and I took the opportunity to promote Quilts of Valour.
