The people you meet.
Ksan Campground, Hazelton BC (2 stars)
Lee remembers that yesterday in the Hazelton Visitor Centre we met a Dutch couple. We could hear the accent of course so he said hello and we were soon rambling in Dutch. They sent us a note today indicating they are from Hardenberg in Overijssel. You never know, we may see them over there sometime.
For a rainy forecast, it's looking pretty sunny outside. Bring out the BBQ.
We start a fire in the ring and Lee notices our neighbours standing by the Skeena River looking across to the other side. It turns out there is a grizzly bear on the far shore. Lee gets into a conversation with the folks and it turns out the woman was born in the Netherlands and emigrated on a ship from Rotterdam in the 50's to Saskatchewan. Lee has seen this movie before.
A lazy day, checking photos for publication, cropping, re-sizing, removing spots from a lens not clean, or a power line running through a photo.
The day started with rain and overcast. It is now broken clouds hugging the tops of the mountains around. Sun is shining through and the wind has dropped off. A perfect day to bring out the Instant Pot and make a bowl of Split (yellow) Pea soup for lunch. With the pressure cooking of the soup mix, there is no need to soak the peas. Lee made his bread dough in the bread-maker, let it rise, formed the buns and is now cooling the cooked buns which will be enjoyed at dinner.
Catching up on the blog, lest I forget what we did today. Background music Mark Knopfler is just the right genre for the day.
