Four wheel drive fun.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Lee thinks that going to tonight's Generals game is like it was going to an Oil Kings game in a winter blizzard. It is snowing like crazy; we must have close to 10 cm on the ground as we leave. Definitely four wheel drive time.

Well, it's the last home game for the Generals who are presented with the regular season championship by the league president before the game. The opposition Lake Cowichan Kraken need to win both their last games in order to make the playoffs. It should be close, hungry and tough.

OK, so we score at the 15 second mark, then the 53 second mark, and then again at the 1:14 mark. It's three zip and two of the Generals lines haven't seen the ice yet. On a night with few fans due to the blizzard, the boys run up a 10-1 win, outshooting them 49 to 17. It was a lot of fun for us. And the drive home reminded us of Edmonton.

Quite the mixed day! Lee was busy earlier in the day, so I dropped by mom's for a visit. We caught up on both worlds, and are both looking forward to the many stories Ralph and Simona will have to tell when they get back from Mexico in a few days.

After lunch we worked on our own projects in the Schooner. Lee is still scanning slides, bringing back many memories. I'm finishing a quilted wall hanging for the Schooner.

It's a biting cold wind out there today, and Hobbes is unsettled today as he really can't go outside. He checked out the door on several occasions, resulting in losing heat in the RV as he stands at the door and does not appreciate any gentle shoving to actually go out the open door. He eventually decides he might as well sleep, and settles into his basket.

The snow was gently falling as the afternoon progressed, little did we know what was coming - even the forecast was not predicting the 8 to 10 inches of snow we had to trudge through from rink to truck and truck to door. The road into the resort was truly an adventure, with the blowing snow obscuring the road. Fortunately we were able to follow the trail of another vehicle that had gone before us, leaving a dent in the snow that showed where he had driven, trusting that it was the road.
