Deep freeze is unknown territory.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Lee is apprehensive, curious, worried, vigilant as we head into the coldest temperatures we have yet to experience in the Schooner. Two good indications are that the furnace is not kicking in every couple of minutes (if it was it would mean we were losing heat like mad) and the taps are still running (the heated water hose and internal hoses haven't frozen).

It was time again to get a propane tank filled; that energy source we are using at a fair clip in this cold weather. As always, Lee replaces the empty tank temporarily with the small BBQ tank so as not to leave a hose dangling uncoupled even though the Schooner is now using the other big tank. So far so good.

Lee goes for some groceries and gets the propane tank re-filled. Once back at home, it is time to remove the BBQ tank and put the full tank in. Well, he tightened the coupling so hard on the BBQ tank that it will not come loose. No problem, get a wrench to do the work. Sure. The tool chest is in Chuck's truck box covered by the nice black cover that is currently covered with about six inches of snow. And we don't own a shovel or broom. Oh well, the pink windshield scaper to the rescue. This all ends wonderfully and he is soon ensconced back into the warm and cozy Schooner.

A lazy supper and evening followed.

Lez has a quilt around her: It's lovely weather for staying inside with comfort and warm wooly clothing. The temperature outside is -6C as I write this. Certainly not the -27C and extreme weather conditions our friends and families are having in Edmonton. However, with the temp, and a wind that has come up, the unit is pretty chilly. Our furnace is running frequently and the electric fireplace will help keep my feet toasty when we face that section to watch a movie later. Good thing I have thick wooly socks too.

I spent today going through the last couple of days of photos - to rename, edit or crop for touchups - the long lens camera needs another internal cleaning of the mirrors and lenses. Little fuzzy dots (dust out of focus close up) need to be removed.

We photographed swans on the estuary today. About 12 of them in with a few mallards. I don't believe we have seen swans on the estuary before. We can't find any Canada Geese out there today. We are curious as to where they would go.

The place is smelling so good - Lee made a loaf of bread using the breadmaker. It's been awhile since he has made the complete loaf. It is now smelling up the place with that wonderful freshly baked bread. If photographs could smell you could enjoy it too.

Stay warm and safe - whever you are this week. It's going to be nasty weather - even for us.
