A mixed bag.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

Lee stuck his hand out of the Schooner door this morning and it didn't get wet. Nuff said.

We are oblivious to the nightmares on the mainland, other than some recent heavy rain. But it does remind him there are only four roads that connect the Lower Mainland with the rest of Canada and as of today, they are all impassable. What a country. One particular image comes to mind. We stayed at the Moon Shadows campground in Merritt a few weeks ago. It is on the shore of the Coldwater River, which has inundated Merritt and caused it to be totally evacuated. He fears the campground will be a total loss, including those unlucky folks who live there year round in their RVs.

Lee got into the cooking mode later today. He made supper and then two kinds of dessert. Now to make some late night coffee.

Lez notes a diverse day of chores and events: The sun decided to wake us up this morning - open curtains helped. Clearest blue skies and an overnight temp 1.5C because the clear skies let all the warmth leave earth. The same sun warmed us up and we headed out for groceries. A stop at the post office had items from Edmonton, and the Cdn Quilters' magazine was enjoyed with a second cup of coffee.

Then it was time to do some housecleaning - after Hobbes taking me out for a walk and photos.

Opened up email and found 47 emails - mostly from Edmonton - with stories of their snowfall. The World Cup Soccer game - Canada vs Mexico tonight. What were organizers thinking That same weather front is responsible for all our west coast rain. Media is filled with photos of the mudslides, flooded land and homes, cars overturned in the mud, sections of roads missing. Yes, there are people missing and now bodies are being found. God rest their souls. The situation is truly incomprehensible. The daily photos are ready for Lee to choose and publish, and I have caught up on the email.

Last item of the day - a moon rise reflected in the estuary. And enjoying a scrumptuous smelling dinner Lee is busy making!
