Fireplace follies.

Surfside RV Resort, Parksville BC (2 stars)

OK, so the electric fireplace is making an occasional screeching noise. Lee determines that the fan is likely loose, no longer lubricated or just at end of life. He hauls the unit out of its spot below the fridge and takes it outside to work on a table. The weather was fabulous for it. The verdict Eleven years of neglect, aka, full of dust and dirt. Lee had the entire unit apart and cleaned everything out. Once re-assembled, it works just fine.

And all this while watching that Hobbes was not roaming outside of his 'assigned territory'.

Our visit with Theresa and Gary was great. They have RV'd a lot and a good portion of it around the Parksville area. Great stories consumed with great tea and cookies.

Today was a beautiful blue sky day - something of a rarity this month. Good timing - because the fireplace fan seized. With our evenings/nights being quite cool, we rely on the fireplace for a dry heat, instead of relying on the propane furnace which does add moisture to the air. Between the two we have been very comfortable even on the cold and windy times.

The fireplace was attacked as Lee brought out the big tools to take it apart - and actually take it out of the nook in the RV. The picnic table outside was perfect for him to work on. Meanwhile, I now have the mid-arm quilting machine set up in the living room - conveniently in front of said fireplace space.

Hobbes enjoyed the many times he was able to wander the estuary today, as both Lee and I were in and out of the RV and keeping an eye on his travels.

We were invited to Theresa and Gary's spot a few RV's down the way and had a wonderful visit - so much in common! We talked and talked! Their unit is very new, interesting to see the changes in RV's after 10 years.
