Map - Plamondon to Slave Lake

Big Fish Bay Resort, Slave Lake, AB (2 stars)

We drove to Slave Lake via Athabasca. We docked at a big RV place called Big Fish Bay Resort. As Lez defrosted the fridge, Lee went for groceries. As he drove down Main Street, he saw evidence of the fire that destroyed most of Slave Lake back in 2011.

Once back at the site, Lee used a few buckets of water to clean the poplar sap off Chuck, who was looking mighty grim before the dousing.

Lez notes: Well, didn't see that one coming! It is now 8:30 ish at the Slave Lake Big Fish Bay RV Resort and WOW we just had hail. We saw storm clouds on the horizon, but they didn't look threatening LOL. We were standing outside the pickup, checking out the clean truck and the full campground and a huge crack of thunder! Never did see any lightning and then the drops started falling and we quickly realized the smacking sound was not big rain drops! We dashed inside. Only marble sized hail, but in a tin can it was VERY noisy! No divots in the RV. We left a towel drying outside LOL, still drying; and the ground mats are soaking up the rain, oops! A beautiful golden glow on the sunset horizon now and not a whisper of wind nor a drop of rain falling. However, a rolling thunder just came thru- hmm, we may not have seen the end yet! Lee held big-eyed Hobbes the whole storm. Hobbes is now curled up sound asleep. RV life is exhausting for a kitty! Rock and roll in the background on the local radio station and we are dry and safe.
