Reminiscing with old friends.

Map - Tisdale to the Kelly acreage

Port Kelly (2 stars)

Up and at 'em, time to go. We left Tisdale and headed west on Highway 3, encountering several elevators along the way. Kinistino and Birch Hills were highlight towns. We then looped around downtown Prince Albert for a bit, trying to find a grocery store parking lot where we could take up 10 spaces and also be able to drive out again. Save-On Foods was the choice.

We then headed for Bob and Leona Kelly's acreage north of PA. Bob taught Dad Worel how to canoe around 1962 and they remained good friends until dad's passing. We are moored with power and water. We may be here for a while, between the reminiscing and the places to see north of their place in and around Prince Albert National Park.

Lez reminiscing with Bob and Leona: The times dad spent with Bob, a friendship that started at Imperial Oil. In 1964 Bob flew he and dad from La Ronge SK to Yellowknife NT, and back south through other SK locations. It was a trip that truly changed dad's life - he fell in love with northern Saskatchewan. I am fortunate to have a copy of the diary he kept of that trip. An insight into my dad's thoughts and a specia friendship with Bob.

It is so great to see Bob and Leona again. They have graciously offered a docking spot for the Schooner, providing power and water. The air here is SO fresh, even with the whiff of forest fire. We had plans to head way further north, but Bob's Rob and Samantha came by and joined us all for coffee (and a great cake make by Bob - secret ingredients undisclosed). They informed us of several forest fires and threats of fires where we want to go. Will have to rethink the plans for tomorrow.
