Birds on a sign post.

Map - Regina to Willow Bunch

Jean Louis Legare Regional Park, Willow Bunch (2 stars)

We drove to Willow Bunch, stopping in Pangman for lunch. A conversation always breaks out, people asking where we are from, etc. The rest of the trip highlighted a number of interesting places we will stop at tomorrow (without the Schooner).

One thing Lee noticed is that more than half of all Range Road sign posts, found every mile one for each direction, had a bird sitting on it. But then, there was no where else for them to sit (aside from the tall power poles) and it is the flat prairie after all.

So Lez has designed a Lego diorama consisting of 1 yellow baseplate and 3 green baseplates, one with a road section. Beside the road are two lego poles, not too high, with a lego bar across and a little Lego bird on it.

Lez dons a sweatshirt: Yes, is is cool in the RV - not cold enough to put on the heat, but far from the heat of the past week. It is also now raining and more grey skies around.

As typical prairie weather, the storm subsides, the clouds disburse and a few hours later as the sun sets, the blue skies are turning to gold with the reflecting light through the clouds. We take a walk through the loops of campers, the kids playgrounds are filled with the noise of play and fun. I thought teetter-totters had been banished! Nope!

The firepits are lighting up and the smell of campfire is a scent that brings back so many memories of the camping days we enjoyed in the '70's. Yes, having the RV is the only new part about our travels. I guess we didn't note earlier, our honeymoon night was in a two-person tent at Echo Lake SK.

We spent many a camping night in that tent until we bought the old VW van and retro-fitted the interior for a bed to sleep on, and our camping gear in the the framework of the bed. Cooking was done on a Hibachi, or the metal rack on the park campfire grate. The crackling fire carried into the darkness, when hot chocolate and even with "spirits" - big wink - and marshmallows were roasted before S'mores were invented.
