Long and hot across the prairies.

Map - Trenville Park to Alsask

Alsask Municipal Campground (1 star)

We headed out for Saskatchewan today on a morning which was already headed for plus 30 degrees. After crossing the Red Deer River at McKenzie Crossing on a one lane, wooden planked bridge, we pulled over in Big Valley because we spotted an elevator.

There was no Big Jamboree in sight (LOL), but we did notice that the town used to have a large train locomotive roundhouse. We spent some time poking around and taking photos of the historic buildings.

Then it was on to Alsask. We got there in very hot weather and grabbed a spot under some willows in their municipal campground, which provides no services (as noted on the web). The hot weather did not agree with Hobbes much and he had a very restless and tummy upsetting evening, other than the time he spent in the bushes chasing gophers.

Happy 36 Aaron! Lez smiles: A mom for 36 years now, and wouldn't change that for anything. With two boys to keep us young and a daughter-in-law who brought "pink" back into my world - I am content. Being the only female in a household of men (including the cats!) it was easy to forget to be feminine!

We spent a VERY hot day travelling and Hobbes was warm. Hobbes was truly stalking the little curious but cautious (as well they should be) prairie critters - Richarson Ground Squirrel, "gophers". Smaller than Prairie Dogs, and very prolific with their holes to their nests. Walking can be dangerous! Hobbes didn't chase them, but he sure watched. They are bigger than a mouse, so maybe he just wanted to stay clear.

We had a bit of rain overnight - didn't see the clouds coming, but it sure helped cool off everything. Will sleep like logs. Again.
